Well friends… I think the time has come! I normally wait until Dec 1st to start decorating but I just can’t wait any longer! A lot of the people I know have either started already or have already finished decorating so with that being said, I got home from work today with a plan to start setting up my front entrance and decided that being outside in -20 degree weather wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do today so lets hope for some warmer weather this weekend so I can get to work!
I prefer simple Christmas designs and after doing some research I noticed that for 2013 the following 3 items are a hit!
2. White & Gold
3. Elaborate Traditional Front Entrances
Check out below for some inspiration photos for all you go getters out there that are starting to decorate and please follow my blog so you can stay tuned to see photos of my own decor!

Halloween decorations can end up looking tacky if you are not careful, I have been pinning and Googling like crazy looking for some inspiration for my Halloween decor this year and found that most people go way over board. Sometimes less really is more, now i’m not saying that you cant go a little crazy with decorations but you have to know what you are doing, I love the look of certain things like clusters of pumpkins and gourds but I do not love rubber fingers and bright orange candy corn in every room of the house. Lucky for you I have found some great inspiration photos and ideas for Halloween 2013!
If you don’t think this picture below is absolutely perfect…. then you might want to stop scrolling right now I am so overly in love with this style that I might just try and re create this on my patio and keep it year round.
Skulls are a staple to Halloween so why not use that to your advantage and decorate with them. They are so easy to find and you can work them into so many different themes.
I noticed that alot of these cut out bats are being used! I really love the look and simplicity of it! You can play with the scale and proportion to make an interesting design.
I see more and more of this soft feminine yellow and white combo being used, I think it works really well and it is so refreshing and cheery which is quite different from the standard style of decorating for this holiday.
Below is my go to natural rustic style and I am so intrigued by the crooked frames in the picture below. It takes talent to make something so messy look so put together. It makes me feel like I could be in an old spooky haunted house!
I hope everyone has a great Halloween- Play safe kids
I am back in action with a new last name and a new logo! I am so so excited to share more of my design ideas with everyone! I love to make a visual once I have an idea of how I would like a room to look, these simple documents give me an idea of how everything is going to flow. Once I see that visual document I can then get creative with the exact pieces that I choose. (And yes I know these are not super professional or perfectly designed… items are missing, spacing is not exact and so on and so on but I am just learning and finding new ways to express my creativity.) Keep posted to see photos of some of these ideas that have come to life! If you have any of your own ideas that you would like to have a visual on let me know, I would love to get some more practice and continue to learn and challenge myself!

I totally recommend reading this book! I absolutely Love all of Nates designs and the stories behind them!
“For me, the most successful interiors in the world are put together by people who surround themselves with objects that bring them joy” – Nate Berkus
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I have been so busy planning my wedding and have not posted anything recently so I thought I would just quickly share some of my fav photos from the book!

It all started when I found this amazing flowery pink fabric…. I have never been one for anything pink but theres just something about this fabric that calls out to my girly senses! If you are thinking of re decorating and would like to have a visual of what your ideas will look like when they all come together try making yourself a story board!
Step 1: Pick out everything and anything that inspires you- Make sure to keep in mind the elements and principles of design:
Space, Line, Shape & Mass, Texture, Light, Colour & Pattern
Scale & Proportion, Balance, Rhythm, Emphasis & Harmony
Step 2: Print, cut and organize all the items you have selected. Try to account for everything in the room if you can. (Before you get to the next step you will most likely change your mind a few times and remove or add new items)
Step 3: Once you decide how you want to lay out all your items so that they are visually pleasing (for instance the kitchen table chairs (21) have a sample of the black leather fabric attached behind it) attach them to any size of board that you would like. *TIP* use double sided carpet tape to attach heavy items, it works great! I used a glue gun for alot of the other materials as well.
4: Taaadaaa! you now have yourself an inspirational story board that you can express all your creative design ideas with!
“I learned that passion about objects and furnishings makes for fearless decorators—and that if you are comfortable in your home, everyone else will be too. That sense of authenticity is what gives a home its soul.”—Interior designer Courtnay Daniels Haden, Jan/Feb 10
Here is a little peak of my current home located in beautiful Cherryville British Columbia. Situated in the Monashee Mountains I have been slowly updating and adding life to this little gem. It used to be restaurant that we have converted into a living space. My personal preference of home decor is very broad, I like to try different styles of design and I usually end up changing things around every week to see what look I can accomplish. I re do alot of furniture and use pieces that have some sort of meaning to my Fiance and I!
In May I will have completed the Interior Decorating program that I am currently enrolled in and I would love to expand and help others achieve an amazing look for their home! Remember that everyone has a different style and the more creative you are the more fun you can have with decorating, there is no right way to do it… yes some general rules but who says you have to follow the rules
I may have a tiny place with cracks in the walls but that doesn’t stop me from loving my home! its what you make of it
